2004 Vintage Pork (SOLD OUT)
In my mind Vintage Port is the king of fortifieds. This one is a tribute to the fortified winemakers of the 60’s and 70’s.
This Vintage Port comes courtesy of Chris Walls vineyards out at Orange. Chris grew the fruit for both of the 2004 Bricks wines and when they arrived I took a small portion of both the Shiraz and the Cabernet Sauvignon and made a batch of port out of each. The intention was to make a Vintage Port like they used to in the old days, a wine which was like a glass of blackberry jam. This is done by only adding small amount of extremely potent brandy.
In recent times Australian Vintage Ports have slid towards the Portuguese style. Portuguese Vintage Ports are quite spirituous with much of the character of the wine coming from impurities in the lower strength brandies employed. I hope you enjoy this fiery wine now or as it mellows over the next few decades. 2005, 2006 now available.
