2007 House of Bricks Shiraz
The Bricks range are our top wines. The 2007 Bricks Shiraz is a blend of 24% Lucknow Shiraz, 37% Orange Shiraz, 39% Adelaide Hills Shiraz and 6% Orange Merlot and 2% Viognier (yes I know it doesn’t add up, I’m drinking the stuff while I write this).
The extremely high altitude vineyard at Lucknow gives wonderful perfume to the wine, while the slightly lower altitude Orange Shiraz vineyard is really the backbone of the blend. Adelaide Hills Shiraz and the Orange Merlot give mid palate and sweetness to the blend while the Viognier smooths out the bumps.
There is nothing thin and pissy about this wine, it has weight, texture and a luxuriousness that fills the mouth. It’s a big red, but not a harsh wine.
Every release night people come up to me and tell me they have tried to cellar these wines, but failed and drunk them. They fear they have sinned. They haven't wine is for drinking after all.
