As I said, we have had some quite astounding comments about the quality of the Cabernets we have produced these last few years.

This wine leaves anything we have ever done before for dead.

It is a 2:1 blend of the Cargo Road 25 year old Cabernet vineyard with Chris Walls East clone. The blend just fell together on the bench while Mick and I were mucking around with the various bits and pieces we had in barrel.

Normally when we do blends there is a fair bit of chatter and joking, ideas are bounced around and it’s a bit of a circus to watch.

As we raised this blend to our noses both of us just went quiet, then turned to look at each other. We both just knew.

This is the first Cabernet Piggs Peake has produced which is actually 100% Cabernet. As a result, it is a bit firmer and leaner than the Bricks but if you like that sort of thing you will love this. A bloody serious wine.
