The House of Bricks Cabernet has always contained a percentage of Merlot, in this case about 10%. It just always seems to lift the wine a little. The first House of Bricks Cabernet was the 2004. Halliday ranked it second in Australia and we haven’t sent him any wine since. The 2006 was written up by Franz Scheurer the Sydney food and wine writer as the best in Australia. The 2008 is better than either of them (must be the even years out there in Orange or something).

Interestingly, the 2004 was off Chris Walls vineyard while the 2006 was off Cargo Road. The 2008 is a blend of both, with a little of the Cargo Road Merlot chucked in.
