2008 Peartree Merlot
When Michael was a Sydney Sommelier he was always bitching about the Merlot section of the winelist. Australian winemakers don’t take the variety seriously and as a result most Merlots you see are sweet, overly soft, structureless, cordial like things.
This is not.
This is the real McCoy. A big wine with structure, body, fruit and character which will easily match it with a lamb roast.
James Sweetapple grew it on the Cargo Road Vineyards. Again, this is off the 25 year old section of the vineyard (thankyou James) and much of the quality is due to the region and the diligence of the viticulturist.
