2010 Werewolf
This is Piggs Peake’s second Werewolf, which is a blend of Zinfandel and Shiraz. We showed our good mate Dave the 2009 Werewolf and sent him down to McLaren Vale with instructions to come back with some thick, black fruit that we could use to do this blend again.
He found it. We are learning about this sort of thing as we go and so with time wines like the Werewolf should pop up more often I hope.
The Shiraz addition adds colour and tannin structure to the Zinfandel. It also dries some of the sweetness out of the palate. It is lovely.
There is no 2011 Werewolf, or Wolfie, so if you need a Zin fix over the next 12 months make sure Linda has you allocated for this wine. It wont be available for long.
