Gewurz is a great variety. At its best it is an alluring wine, full of aromas of tinned lychees and Turkish delight. The trick, however, is to avoid them just being superficially pretty and to get some personality into them.

This is a serious wine, there’s plenty going on in this one. There are layers of spicy aromas, then a big mouthful of flavour. The wine has a sweetness, but it’s not overt. These are great food wines with things like pork knuckle and sauerkraut.
